Mr Bartlett opening the gallery with some of the Textiles students whose designs were displayed
Next time you visit us you will not fail to notice the new edition to the College: ‘The Gallery’ now takes pride of place at the entrance to the auditorium. The Gallery was officially opened on 21st October 2008 by Mr Neil Bartlett, County Advisor for Professional Development.
The Gallery has been made possible as a result of Specialist Status funding and will be used to exhibit work which demonstrates the links between the sciences and all other curriculum areas.
Textiles students with their designs displayed in the new Gallery
The first ever exhibition was the amazing costumes made by our students for the 2008 College production of Sweet Charity. The display highlighted the use of chemicals in dyes to achieve vivid colours and unique patterns on various textiles.
Currently there is an exhibition of "Earth & Weather" drawings and prints by Michael Carlo. Michael was born in Glemsford in 1945 and trained at The Colchester School of Art & The Royal College of Art in London and now lives in Hartest. Michaels work can also be seen at the Tate Gallery London, the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle and the University of Yale, USA.
There will be a rolling programme of exhibits, aimed at stimulating the interest of all visitors to the college and promoting enquiring minds and invigorating discussions.
